Fiona Humphries
I am a school counsellor and, until last year, was also in the classroom teaching. I am passionate about education - teaching is an amazing career. It is also demanding, rewarding, exasperating, exhilarating, infuriating, illuminating, and more. I have over 30 years in the profession and bring my experience in the primary and secondary sectors into my work. My research is: New Zealand teachers’ perceptions of and insights into their wellbeing: A mixed-method approach. When I speak with teachers at conferences, individually, or when presenting a workshop, I bring my lived experience and grounded knowledge of what it is really like to be in the classroom in New Zealand today.
